NVIDIA is reportedly discussing another major artificial intelligence investment, this time involving AI search and agent platform Perplexity.
NVIDIA is in discussions to participate in an equity funding round that would value Perplexity at more than $30 billion. According to The Information.
The potential financing is notable not only because of its size, but because it highlights how quickly the AI market is expanding beyond foundation models. Search, AI agents, infrastructure, orchestration, and enterprise workflows are increasingly becoming parts of the same competitive landscape.
Importantly, the transaction has not been officially confirmed as completed. Reuters reported that Perplexity declined to comment on the report, while NVIDIA did not immediately respond to its request for comment.
The reported discussions involve NVIDIA investing in Perplexity as part of an equity round worth billions of dollars.
The Information reported that the financing could value Perplexity above $30 billion, representing an increase of more than 50% from the company’s previous financing valuation of around $20 billion in 2025.
That increase is being supported by rapid business growth.
According to the report, Perplexity’s annualized revenue has increased to more than $750 million, compared with less than $250 million at the beginning of 2026. That implies the company’s reported annualized revenue run rate has more than tripled within the year.
Part of this growth has reportedly come from Perplexity Computer, the company’s agentic AI platform designed to perform multi-step work rather than simply answer questions.
Perplexity originally became widely known for combining generative AI with web search and citations. Its newer strategy, however, is increasingly centered around AI agents capable of performing work across applications, data, files, and enterprise systems.
In its own product announcements, Perplexity describes Computer as an agent platform capable of working across local files, Microsoft 365, the web, and hundreds of connected applications.
Perplexity says Computer supports 400+ files and tools through App Connectors, while its Windows announcement stated that Computer had performed more than $9.4 billion in “labor-equivalent work” for users since launch. That figure is Perplexity’s own measurement rather than reported company revenue, but it illustrates how the company is positioning its platform around autonomous work and enterprise productivity.
This evolution helps explain why Perplexity’s valuation is increasingly being viewed through a broader AI agent and enterprise platform lens rather than purely as an AI search engine.
A potential investment would not create the NVIDIA-Perplexity relationship from scratch.
The companies already collaborate technically.
In March 2026, NVIDIA officially announced the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition, bringing together AI companies including Perplexity, Mistral AI, Cursor, LangChain, Black Forest Labs, Reflection AI and Thinking Machines Lab to advance open frontier models.
Perplexity joined as an inaugural member and is contributing expertise related to model development and real-world AI deployment. The coalition’s work is intended to contribute to NVIDIA’s emerging Nemotron model ecosystem.
NVIDIA’s own documentation also shows how deeply Perplexity already depends on its infrastructure.
According to an official NVIDIA Perplexity case study, Perplexity operates a fleet of around 15 AI models, serves more than 50 million queries per day, and uses NVIDIA Hopper and Blackwell infrastructure alongside NVIDIA’s software stack to optimize inference performance and cost.
The reported investment discussions therefore appear against an existing relationship spanning AI compute, inference, models, and open-model development.
NVIDIA’s business is increasingly connected to the success of the entire AI ecosystem.
More AI applications create greater demand for inference. More agentic workloads require greater compute capacity. And rapidly growing AI platforms can become important distribution points for NVIDIA models, software, and infrastructure.
The Information also reported that NVIDIA had previously considered a different arrangement involving licensing some Perplexity technology and potentially hiring employees before discussions evolved toward a more conventional investment structure.
If the investment proceeds, it would give NVIDIA deeper exposure to one of the fastest-growing AI-native platforms while potentially giving Perplexity additional capital to expand its search, agent, API, and enterprise businesses.
The bigger story is not simply another billion-dollar AI valuation.
AI competition is expanding from “Which model is best?” toward “Which ecosystem can turn intelligence into useful work?”
That requires much more than an LLM.
Enterprises increasingly need models connected to business data, applications, APIs, workflows, security policies, approval processes, and monitoring systems. They also need the flexibility to change models as capabilities, costs, and requirements evolve.
The NVIDIA-Perplexity relationship demonstrates this broader shift. AI infrastructure, models, search, agents, and workflow execution are becoming interconnected layers of the same technology stack.
As NVIDIA, Perplexity, and other AI leaders continue investing across the AI stack, enterprises need more than access to powerful models. They need the right expertise to turn these technologies into secure, scalable business solutions.
This is where AI-specialized companies such as Codimite can help. Through its AI development and agentic automation services, Codimite helps organizations build AI applications, connect agents with enterprise systems, automate workflows, and implement governance for production environments.
As AI capabilities evolve, specialized AI partners will play a key role in helping enterprises turn innovation into practical, measurable outcomes.
The AI race is no longer only about building smarter models. It is about turning intelligence into execution.
