Codimite’s Iftar Gathering 2026: Celebrating Culture and Togetherness

This year, our team came together to celebrate a special Iftar gathering, creating an evening filled with cultural appreciation, meaningful conversations, and shared experiences.

The event brought employees together in a warm and welcoming atmosphere where colleagues could learn more about the significance of Iftar while enjoying a delicious meal and the spirit of community.

Understanding the Meaning of Iftar

The evening began with an insightful speech by our colleague Shifna Shafeek, who introduced the significance of Iftar and its deep connection to Muslim culture and traditions.

Shifna explained that Iftar marks the moment when Muslims break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan, a time dedicated to reflection, gratitude, and community. Throughout Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, focusing on spiritual growth, compassion, and self discipline. Iftar therefore becomes more than just a meal. It is a moment of togetherness where families, friends, and communities gather to break their fast and share food.

Her talk gave many of our colleagues a deeper understanding of the cultural and spiritual importance behind the celebration. It was an opportunity for everyone to learn about the traditions that shape the lives of our Muslim team members and appreciate the values of unity, generosity, and gratitude that Ramadan represents.

A Beautifully Decorated Celebration Space

The event space was thoughtfully decorated to reflect the cultural essence of the celebration. The decorations incorporated elements inspired by Muslim traditions, creating an atmosphere that felt both festive and respectful of the occasion.

Teams gathered around Biriyani Sawan, a traditional way of serving biriyani where groups share a large platter together. Each group sat together around their own Sawan, creating a lively and communal dining experience that encouraged conversation, laughter, and bonding.

The biriyani was accompanied by refreshing beverages, making the meal even more enjoyable after a long day of work. To complete the feast, everyone enjoyed Watalappam, the beloved Sri Lankan dessert known for its rich coconut and jaggery flavors.

The shared Sawan style dining brought an extra layer of joy to the evening. Instead of individual plates, colleagues experienced the cultural tradition of eating together from a shared platter, strengthening the sense of community and connection among teams.
